Enter any name and this tool returns three numbers read from its letters: the Name Number (also called Expression), the full range of natural talent and tendency encoded in a name; the Soul Urge, the inner motivation, or desire, the name carries beneath the surface; and the Personality Number, the outer impression the name makes before anyone knows more.
Every letter maps to a single digit on the same letter-to-number chart Lucid Numbers uses everywhere on the site: A through I run 1 through 9, J through R repeat 1 through 9, and S through Z run 1 through 8. The Name Number sums the value of every letter, name part by name part, reducing each part before adding them together and reducing the total again, never reducing the whole string in one pass. The Soul Urge uses only the vowels; the Personality Number uses only the consonants. Y is a vowel only when no other vowel follows it in the same syllable, and a consonant otherwise, a fixed rule with no guesswork involved. Wherever the process turns up an 11 or 22, that master number is kept rather than reduced to 2 or 4.
Each number lands on 1 through 9 or on the masters 11 and 22, and every number carries a label and a short set of traits, such as "the Pioneer" for 1 or "the Architect" for 22. Read the Name Number for a name's overall talents, the Soul Urge for what it wants underneath, and the Personality Number for how it lands on other people. None of the three ranks a name as good or bad; each names an energy to work with.
